The property

The dirt road leaving San Quirico goes up two kilometers between cypresses and ends at an iron gate that is open all day long. From the last corner you can see the house: clear stone, low roof, the green Venetians closed against the sun of the three. The one who opens the door is the homemade one, who has been taking care of the villa for eleven years, with a jar of water with lemon and the keys to all the doors.

Inside the right foot of the room is five meters and the beams are the originals of 1780. The dining table receives sixteen; the kitchen has a wood oven and a marble countertop of two and a half feet. The six suites are upstairs, three on either side of the hall, and guest dependencies have their own entrance through the back yard.

Pienza is a twelve-minute drive away and Montalcino is twenty-five; the cypress road that everyone photographs passes a mile from the gate. The house has two hundred and forty olive trees, and the oil of the year is in the pantry in tin. The homemaker arrives at nine and leaves after lunch — on the day of arrival she waits for the car at any time in the afternoon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the pool heated?

No. It runs from May to October and the water is around 24 degrees in July and August; in April it is usually too cold to swim.

Can you stay in the house without a car?

Yeah, but we don't recommend it. It's two kilometers of dirt road to the asphalt, and without a car you depend on us for everything, including for dinner out. We'll pick you up in Florence or in Chiusi and rent the car on arrival, if you prefer.

Is the chef included in the daily?

The homemaker is, the chef is not. A dinner for fourteen comes out at €85 per person, with the wine apart, and the menu closes in writing a week before.

Can we get married in the house?

Up to forty people, yes, on the long table on the terrace, with the house closed for five nights. Above that lacks bathroom and parking, and we indicate the Santa Clara Farm in Minas, which sits a hundred and fifty in the hall.

Does that change anything you've already booked?

No. Confirmed reservations are respected by the buyer — it is under contract — and no interested visitors happen to guests in the house.
