Fazenda Santa Clara

It is forty minutes from Maria da Fé by well preserved dirt road, and the last three kilometers run within an eucalyptus tree planted in the sixties. The seat appears after the last turn, at a thousand four hundred and twenty meters of altitude. From São Paulo are four hours by car; from Belo Horizonte, three and a half. Itajubá airfield, one hour away, receives monomotor.

The headquarters is 1908 and was restored in 2016: peroba floor, four fireplaces and walls of half a meter. The eight suites are divided between the main body and the old guest house, connected by a covered corridor. The kitchen kept the wood stove on six plates and won a second gas, because the cook makes breakfast at six and dinner at eight.

The haras has twelve bays, covered ring and six meek horses that come out sealed for the valley trails. The chapel of St Sebastian, 1924, has forty places and still receives mass on the day of the saint. The old barn turned into a living room: three hundred and twenty square meters, one hundred and fifty people sitting, a supporting kitchen and their own bathrooms.
